The shooting for Asal has started and has been proceeding at a brisk pace. The film is directed by Saran and produced by Sivaji Productions. Majority of the film's shoot is expected to take place in Malaysia and parts of Europe.

Since Ajith is extremly popular, his fans always follow him. According to reports, some of his fans come to watch him everyday at the spot where the shooting for Asal has been going on.

Asal, will have Sameera Reddy playing the female lead role opposite Ajith. The film's story is said to revolve around an underworld don played by Ajith. The director plans to have some edge of the seat chases and stunt sequences similar to Hollywood films.
