Fans of the smooth operating, womanizing English spy James Bond have been criticizing the title track for the new Bond movie Quantum of Solace, in which Daniel Craig reprises the lead role.
This opening track was unveiled on several British radio stations earlier this week. Written and sung by Jack White and singer Alicia Keys, the song, Another Way To Die, has been trashed by fans and critics alike.
One fan said that the track sounded like a "shopping list" of violence. Another said Jack and Alicia had totally different styles and that the two "don't gel". From music critic Todd Marten's point of view, "The first mistake was mimicking an iconic score with some electric guitars and modern effects, which is always, always, always a bad idea." Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher had some pretty nasty things to say. A translation of the same in polite terms would amount to, “Getting a bunch of Americans to render the track for a movie that features the archetypal English Spy was a big mistake!”
The song makers and film makers are yet to comment.
