2007 Venice film festival Volpi cup winner Cate Blanchett is looking forward to act in the third movie in the Elizabeth film series. Blanchett won the Academy award for best actress, for her role of England’s "Virgin Queen" in the 1998 film Elizabeth by director Shekar Kapur.
Blanchett reappears as Elizabeth I in the sequel to Elizabeth titled Elizabeth: The Golden Age, directed by Shekhar Kapur. The second movie is slated for release in the US on October 12th. Even before the film hits the theatres, the actress has shown her interest to be part of the third instalment, stating that Queen Elizabeth is “endlessly fascinating”.
Elizabeth: The Golden Age is produced by Working Title Films and written by William Nicholson. Music maestro A.R. Rahman scores the music for the film, which had its premiere at the Toronto film festival on September 9th.
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur said that while the first two films were about power, the third movie would focus on morality.
