Shortly after Amitabh Bachchan was honoured with the title Legion d'Honneur by the Frech government, French President Jacques Chirac has honoured Clint Eastwood, 76, legendary American actor and director with the Legion d'Honneur. Napoleon Bonaparte created the Legion d'Honneur in 1802.
It honours military, cultural, scientific or social contributions to France by persons of all nationalities. In a ceremony at the presidential Elysee Palace, Oscar-winner, Eastwood was titled a knight in France's elite Legion of Honour by president Chirac.
Chirac was fulsome in his praise when he called Eastwood "the best of Hollywood", and "an exceptional ambassador" for American culture around the world. Eastwood's wife Dina, his 10-year-old daughter Morgan, his son Kyle and friends were also present at the intimate ceremony in the Winter Garden.
