A survey held by the National Year of Reading campaign reveals that Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ is the song whose lyrics most aptly describe the feelings of lovers. The survey was conducted amongst 4000 people in the age group 16 to 35. Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ came second.
The survey also revealed that ‘Everybody Hurts’ by REM is the most soothing song in moments of depression, while Simon and Garfunkel's ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ was ranked as almost as popular with those feeling low.
‘Celebration’ by Kool and Gang is the ultimate song for a party mood. ‘Love Is All Around’ by Wet Wet Wet topped the wedding song list. For those who suffered bereavement, Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli's ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ was voted the best song.
