From Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell has turned author of a children’s book! Who would have thought that the quirky, ever-smiling Geri had such literary interests?! Her book, titled Ugenia Lavender, is scheduled to hit stands on 2nd May, 2008.
The character Ugenia is based on her as a young child with ‘a swinging bob of clipped ginger hair, a smattering of freckles and a confident, mischievous smile’. Her parents are a dinosaur expert and a breakfast TV presenter. The story portrays her as a classic misfit, struggling to find friends at a new school and suffering at the hands of a bully. In many ways, the various episodes that make up the book are from Geri’s childhood. “Ugenia is definitely a part of me. She’s like my inner brat,” Geri confesses.
Geri is excited about her book and about the six others that she intends to write as part of the same series!
