Director Terry Gilliam is quite satisfied with the completion of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which would be Heath Ledger’s last film. Terry is even more pleased that his decision to use three actors to finish the film has worked perfectly.
Heath was in the middle of filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus when he was found dead at his New York apartment. Shooting was suspended following the tragic news, but Gilliam was intent to complete the movie. Hence he decided to complete Ledger's role and finish the movie by using three actors to shoot his final scenes. Gilliam says, "I've seen it and it works and it's great. It's the last chance to see Heath and he's brilliant. Filming stopped for a bit until the three heroes, as they're now known - Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell - came to the rescue and finished Heath's part."
