Hugh Jackman is quite open in admitting that he was the second choice for the role in epic movie Australia, after Russell Crowe turned down the part. Hugh says the producers were keen that Russell play the part of Nicole Kidman's lover, but the actor turned down their offer. It was only after he said no that they turned to Hugh. He says, "I don't mind if I'm off the bench second or third reserve. I just didn't want to miss out on being a part of the film."
