Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has made an estimated US$311 million in global box office sales through the U.S. long weekend. This is the second biggest Memorial Day opening, just behind Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
Indiana Jones returns to the big screen after 19 years. Harrison Ford plays Indy for the fourth time. The movie is reported to have been made at a cost of $185 million to make, even after Harrison Ford, director Steven Spielberg and writer George Lucas surrendered their fees for a greater share of the profits.
The first three Indy movies raked in $1.2 billion worldwide. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hits the Indian screens on May 30th.
