Jay-Z was at the U.N. Global Leadership Awards Gala in New York on Wednesday night, where he was being honoured for his work to bring clean water to young people in Africa. Jay-Z, who has spent several weeks touring the continent, is focussed on his mission. More that 2 billion people don’t have access to clean water, and Jay-Z wants to turn that around. "There are many charities; you close your eyes and cross your fingers and hope that the money gets to the people who really deserve it," he said. "But with this, I got to go to Africa, see the water pumps. I got to see the kids turn them on."
Did being in the Dark Continent make him want to adopt? "No," he said. "I don't want to bring any kids home. I, like most people, dream of having a family someday. So I'm just a regular American boy."
