Jennifer Hudson's family have established The Hudson-King Foundation of Slain Victims in honour of Jennifer’s mother, brother and nephew who were shot dead last week. "The specific purpose of the Foundation is to care for the needs of families who have lost relatives to a violent crime," the family says in a statement. "This encompasses their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter as well as grief counselling."
A prayer vigil was also held in Chicago, on Wednesday at the Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Jesse Jackson, who spoke at the vigil, said, "Jennifer and her family are overwhelmed by the suddenness and the unexpectedness of it all. This family knows triumph, and now they also know tragedy."
William Balfour, Jennifer’s sister’s estranged husband, remains in police custody as investigations into the triple murders continue.
