Nicole Richie and her partner Joel Madden inaugurated a new playground in Los Angeles on Thursday as a part of their Richie-Madden Foundation which they started in 2007 to raise money for children's charities. The organization helped fund a new play park in conjunction with Beyond Shelter, which helps the poor and the homeless. The couple cut a ribbon and declared the park open, and also stayed on for a while talking to local kids.
After the event, Nicole wrote on her blog, "Thank you to everyone who participated in the campaign. We are giving these children a chance to have an imagination and be free." Joel was honoured at the Noble Awards ceremony in Beverly Hills last Sunday for his charity work. He received the night's top prize for his dedication to The Art of Elysium, an organization that tends to sick children.
