Roundtree joins Emile Hirsh

Shaft star Richard Roundtree has been signed for the upcoming film Speed Racer directed by Wachowiski Brothers. The movie is a live action film adaptation of the Japanese animated series, Speed Racer. The movie casts Emile Hirsch as Speed, Christina Ricci as Speed’s girlfriend, Trixie; Susan Sarandon and John Goodman appear as Speed’s parents. The movie, slated for release on May 9, 2008, is based on automobile racing. Richard Roundtree is known for his role as John Shaft in the film, Shaft (1971) and its next instalments, Shaft’s Big Score(1972) and Shaft in Africa (1973).
