Kaanchan [January 21, 2010, 4:06:59 PM]

UTV World Movies' Republic Day Special

UTV World Movies celebrates the spirit of freedom in its own way on Republic Day with the Freedom Express, a bunch of movies that will rouse the patriot within each of us. Freedom-centric movies Revolution, To end all wars, Mountbatten, Buenos Aires, Darkness in tallinn & Waltz with Bashir, will be telecast on the 26th. The movie jet-setting the Freedom Express is the Al Pacino starrer Revolution at 9.00 a.m.

Mansi Sapre, Programming Head, UTV World Movies, says in regards to this initiative, “Republic Day is a very important day for us, Indians and hence we decided to celebrate it with a delectable mix of World Cinema. The day will unwind a lot of emotions through these nail biting and exciting movies.”

About the movies being telecast:

Revolution, New York trapper Tom Dobb becomes an unwilling participant in the American Revolution after his son Ned is drafted into the Army by the villainous Sergeant Major Peasy.

To End All Wars, During WWII, the Japanese have taken several English men as Prisoners of war. They are made to build the enemy's railroad through the harsh jungles.

Waltz with Bashir, One night at a bar, an old friend tells director Ari about a recurring nightmare in which he is chased by 26 vicious dogs. Every night, the same number of beasts. The two men conclude that there's a connection to their Israeli Army mission in the first Lebanon War of the early eighties.

Buenos Aires 1977, is the true story of four young men who narrowly escaped death at the hands of a military death squad during the Argentinean dirty war. One of them is a goal keeper of a football team, who was forcibly kidnapped by members of the Argentine secret military police. After four months of imprisonment and many sessions of torture, he and his fellow captives make a break for freedom. A gripping political thriller.

In the fast paced, nail-biting thriller, Darkness in Tallin, Estonia reclaims its independence and brings its National treasury back, nearly $1 billion in gold. But there’s a bold plan to hijack the gold after shutting down the capital's power at midnight.

Mountbatten – the last Indian Viceroy is documentary on Lord Mountbatten as the last Indian Viceroy and the trauma and upheavals of the INDO-PAK partition.

Don’t miss out on the Freedom Express!
