Vera Farmiga claims that she had no inhibitions approaching Martin Scorsese with suggestions to improve her character in his 2006 movie The Departed. She insists that she was absolutely not intimidated by Scorsese's reputation and never held back her opinions on her character. She says she even urged him to have the role rewritten.
Vera says, "The wonderful thing about Marty is that he will is ready to go that extra mile. So we worked to build the character up -- to introduce inconsistencies and contradictions and all the stuff that makes people human. I need directors as much as they need me."
