Matt Damon, who starred in The Bourne Ultimatum, has been shortlisted as the favourite male action star for the 34th annual People’s Choice Awards. The Bourne Ultimatum is leading the People's Choice Awards, grabbing three nominations. The spy thriller has been nominated for favourite movie, favourite action movie and favourite threequel.
Other movies that scooped multiple nominations include Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and Transformers which compete against The Bourne Ultimatum in the favourite movie category. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End will also compete with The Bourne Ultimatum in the favourite threequel category.
Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean star), will compete with Bourne series leading man Matt Damon and Live Free or Die Hard’s Bruce Willis in the favourite male action category. Depp and Willis, have also been named for the best male movie star, with Denzel Washington also in the race.
Jessica Alba won two nominations, for favourite leading lady and favourite female action star. Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock compete in the favourite female movie star category.
Other nominees include Sally Field, Katherine Heigl, and Jennifer Love Hewitt for the favourite female TV star, Patrick Dempsey, Charlie Sheen, and Kiefer Sutherland for the best male TV star, Beyonce Knowles , Gwen Stefani, and Fergie for the best female singer and John Mayer, Tim McGraw, and Justin Timberlake for the best male singer .
The winners, voted by the American public, will be announced during a ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on January 8.
