"Any man can sweep any woman off her feet. It just needs the right broom." This is the attitude of Alex 'Hitch' Hitchens (Will Smith), who claims himself to be a "date doctor" and for a fee has taught, rather helped ("helped" because he will not teach people who come to him, how to lure girls into bed) many New York men to succeed on their dates with the women they love.
Hitch's next client is Albert Brennaman (Kevin James), a corporate accountant who falls for Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta), a beautiful heiress whose wealth is being managed by Albert's company. Hitch does not publicize his job, nor does he let any woman know about his profession. One day, while with his client in a bar, he happens to notice Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), a gossip reporter, and after an interesting conversation manages to fix up his first date with her. Their friendship grows, but at one point, Sara comes to know of Hitch's job which also gets published in her tabloid. This not only affects Albert's relationship with Cole, but Hitch's own relationship with his love Sara is also in trouble. He tries to explain to her that his job is not just for money, but that he helps those who really love a woman, to succeed.
If we have a feeling that Will Smith is not anything more than an action hero, then we are probably going the wrong way. We see a complete and perfect Will Smith charming throughout this romantic comedy. He has been assisted with the right cast beginning from Kevin James who makes the film all the more hilarious. Both the male leads excel in humour and emotions. As for the female leads, Mendes is acceptable while model turned actress Valletta is gorgeous and sure to be seen again in the future.
This is a movie which has to be seen and enjoyed rather than reading reviews and making it hard to decide. Guys, take your girl to this movie, you will appreciate the time spent; you will say to yourself, "I want to see this film again". Enjoying this movie is money well spent.
